Balkan Inc. reached our 60th year of operation in 2012, we thought it was a really big deal.
Balkan Sewer And Water Main pulled out all the stops to celebrate it’s 60th birthday including using some of it’s specialty equipment to help get the job done. Utilizing a patented cake roof support system, specialty mixer, and cake hoisting truck, a 2,500 pound birthday cake was made and hoisted onto the roof of the building. No small task – but our team can handle almost any specialty job. Thanks to great relations with it’s vendors a specialty cake mix was utilized that is weather resistant, long-lasting, and delicious as well.
Balkan Sewer And Water Main was assisted in preparing for the celebration by it’s entire staff – It’s not every day that you turn 60. An actual 1/16 scale model of the roof cake was shared and enjoyed by all.

Joe Balkan founded Joseph L. Balkan Inc. in 1952 and started out in East New York with about $900.00 of capital and tremendous determination. Little did he know that by sticking to his word and performing high quality sewer repair and water main repair work his name would be renowned in the NYC sewer and water main industry 60 years later. His sons Paul and David carry on Joe’s principals of service, quality, and integrity in all sewer and water main work they perform to this very day.
